The Last Article of 2011 : Bread freshness

In a few days we will celebrate upcoming 2012. I’m sure each of you will remember precious moment of 2011 and don’t forget the bitter one. I felt neglected to leave historical and mystery of 2011. Not much big improvement I have done. Need improvement and be more matured. That’s it for 2011. Let’s celebrate 2012 by:

• buy better transport
•  seeking affordable shelter
•  out from comfortable zone
• Enjoy domestic vacation

Hopefully, I can achieve at least two(2) stuff above.  For upcoming articles in this blog, there are exciting information and news waiting ahead. So, be prepared and challenge yourself! Last but not least, let’s have a cup of tea and slice of bread!

Plus! The last article of 2011

Here is something interesting. When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you 'squeeze' for freshness or softness. Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie. They are :

Monday - Blue
Tuesday - Green
Thursday - Red
Friday - White
Saturday - Yellow

So if today is friday, you would want white twist tie not yellow which is Saturday. (almost a week old)!
The colors go alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red -White -Yellow, Monday thru Saturday. Very easy to remember!

I thought this was interesting. I looked in the JUSCO and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the one with the plastic clips have different colors. Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping!

Sushi King Halal Status?

My dear friends, it has been a while forget to feed you any worthy information. Things matter to me is, food. Not only food type, ingredient, taste and brand. There some missing ingredient that you must take a weight of. Halal consciousness. I received an email from unknown inform me that matter above. Since most of us live in urban area and practice as well grown urban-folk,please don’t let your guard down by consuming non-halal product.

Another element of halal is on the use of alcohol in food preparation / cooking or the presence of alcohol in the ingredient use such as sauces etc.Can you tell me whether Sushi King use alcohol or use materials
(such as sauces) that content alcohol?

Dear Mr. Abdul Rahman Omar,

Thank you for your email. For your information, we are not a Halal restaurant as we do not have certification from JAKIM, but we only can claim us as Pork free. All our meat based products like chicken and beef are Halal Certified and we do not use any pork or pork derivatives in our restaurant. Sushi King is not certified ‘Halal’. This is due to some of our food contains ‘Mirin’.Mirin is derived from fermentation of rice and it is commonly used in Japanese cooking to enhance the taste of food.

Following are products that contains Mirin:

1. Unagi Kabayaki
2. Unagi Slice
3. Karei Nitsuke
4. Saba Misoni
5. Mamakari
6. Ikura

On top of that, some of our restaurants do sell beer.However, our meat materials such as chicken, beef and seafood are from Halal Certified source.

Electricity tariffs hike: We pay for IPPs' profits

'Why was the government compelled to arm-wrestle TNB into accepting the Power rates up 7%, gas price to be floated

Ferdtan: We are not against the gradual removal of power subsidy per se. We are only angry on the ineptitude of the our ‘big-spending' government.

What has happened to all our money? Malaysia is a rich country - we have valuable oil and gas. By exporting the surplus oil, we are making more money now, especially with the global rise in oil prices.

We were at one time the largest producer of palm oil in the world (we lost the position to Indonesia in 2007). We have timber, sago, rubber and many other primary products.

Previously, we were well-known in the manufacturing sectors, like electronics, air-conditioners, etc. Our national reserve, by right, should have enough to last us for some time if the government was prudent with our money.

Instead, we have expensive mega-projects, illegal leakages due to wanton corruption and wasteful projects for Umno cronies like the IPPs (independent power producers). It's time to change the government to ensure accountability and transparency before the rot sets in.

Observor: Tell me any industry that does not use electricity. Industries and the service sector such as hotels will feel the pinch and will have no choice but to pass on the increase in tariff to the consumers.

The poor households will be affected albeit indirectly. Talk about helping the rakyat. We are being hit left, right and centre.

The spiralling inflation will eat into our wages, making us poorer. I absolutely don't believe in the figure of 0.27 percent impact on inflation. What rubbish is this! The rakyat cannot be fooled.

Ruben: So in increasing electricity tariffs, inflation will only rise 0.27 percent. When cement prices goes up, the increase will be 0.27 percent. When petrol prices go up, it will increase by another 0.27 percent and the list goes on and on, and before you know it the rakyat will be faced with significant inflation burning a big hole in our pockets.
Government expenditure will still be very high and despite all this so-called savings as they will be wiped out by bailouts, corruption and payments of ‘commissions'.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: Don't get me wrong, I do not support the BN administration, but I do not see a point in complaining about the price hikes. It is happening everywhere and we need to adapt.

I am a student in the UK and the inflation here is worst than Malaysia's - at 5 percent and growth is anaemic at best. The people here are adapting instead of clamouring for subsidies.

We will destroy ourselves if we subsidise everything as I believe that money wasted on subsidies can be better spent on education, infrastructure or better yet, plug the budget deficit and bring down national debt. RM25 billion per annum is not a trivial sum to play with.

Rakyat Malaysia: Yes, inflation is everywhere in the world. But is our government plugging the corruption and wastage? No.

Is our government trying to do like what Singapore government is doing to fight inflation? No. Does the BN government has the people's interest at heart? No.

Are we adapting to it? Yes, we have no choice - after all, we have been asked to ‘ubah gaya hidup'. Are we seeing corruption being addressed and the government saving money? No.

Pakman: TNB is enjoying fuel subsidies and passing this to the IPPs at the expense of the poor rakyat. This what BN policy of ‘Cronies First, Rakyat Later'.

The 5.49 million household will definitely be affected when the suppliers, shopkeepers and food manufacturers absorb these power price increase by passing it to the eventual users. Even now the rakyat is struggling to keep up with the increase in price of food stuffs and fuel prices.

Barang Naik (BN) has not been able to administer the economy of Malaysia despite been endowed with rich natural resources. Let Pakatan Rakyat wins the GE13 and see how different the policy toward reforming the economy for the poor rakyat.

Remember to register as a voter so that the change of better government in GE13 will be achieved.

FellowMalaysian: I abhor the 7.5 percent increase in TNB's tariff. TNB has been known to be a highly inefficient GLC (government-linked company) and they have shown little effort to dispel the notion that they are a lazy and ponderous lot and will rather hide behind the government's skirt when things get rough for them. Like what is happening now.

Look, TNB is enjoying fuel subsidies from the government to the tune of billions of ringgit each year. Yet, almost every year they will never fail to demand forprice hike, which they get every two or three years. What have they done to deserve this pampering?

Why was the government compelled to arm-wrestle TNB into accepting the IPPs, which have been laughing all the way to the bank? The government is supposed to help the poor and eradicate poverty, but are now removing the RM20 waiver to low-usage householders?

You got to be eating your own words, PM Najib Razak. I say no to this increase until TNB sheds its bulges and trim down its size.

Wira: A 0.27 percent increase in inflation? That was what they said when they increased the price of sugar. A cup of black coffee here went up from 80 sen to RM1.20. Everything else went up by the same margin, including all hawker food.

Righteous: Instead of "We shall defend Putrajaya at all cost", it is "We shall defend the IPPs at all cost".

So now, are this news not true? Don't be pathetic if you don't except someone that have some interest to protect their carreer. You know what I mean.  

LYNAS: THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

What happen to Lynas? Have you got correct and precisely information without any boundaries? Its really ashamed if you rely too much to mass media because they cover-up too much until we got only debris of information. Now I will share correct information will little school leaver research standard.

1.       Lynas factory has been 95% set up at Gebeng, Kuantan. It accumulate of 140 football field / 100 hectares land. It located by Polyplastic and 1^st Phase Palm Oil Industry Cluster Project. In front of   Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (APMM) close to BASF Petronas Chemicals. Written at signboard LAMPSON or Lynas Advanced Material Plant (LAMP) between Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd and UGL Resources.

2.       UGL Resources is a main company located at Australia. This company involved in asset management and project employed 42,000 workers. They were given a contract for Development and Management Lynas, Gebeng,Kuantan on 22/2/2010. The administrative cost for this project around RM 9.86billion. UGL Resources responsible for engineering design management of Lynas Plant. Estimate RM700billion for infrastructure cost.

3.       100% own by Lynas Australia

4.       Finished on September 2011. Previously estimate on March 2011

5.       Development License given on 2008.

6.       Career opportunity only for 350 people.

7.       Will produced 22 thousand tonne   'rare earth oxide ' per year.

8.       Export value estimate around RM8billion /yr.

9.       Free tax for 12 years

10.   China was major supplier for “rare earth” in the world which is 95%. Probably, decreasing export of rare earth of China from 72% to 37% on 2011.

11.   1 tonne = RM 364,800.00

12.   Major customer are from Japan,US and Europe for Advanced Technology industry (High performance Magnet) such as Fiber  Optic Cable, LCD Monitor, Computer, Lens, Bulb, Smartphone, Military gadget and Hybrid Car.

13.   Lynas will be expected become 3^rd suppliers of “rare earth” in the world after 2 years operation.

Be aware of radioactive of Thorium

Chapter 1: How to produce “Rare Earth” ?

1.       Ore was mined from Mount Weld Australia

2.       Next, ore was dry-out and undergo differentiation process. Now, rare earth concentrated was produced.

3.       In Gebeng, Kuantan, next process is producing “rare earth compound” which is undergo chemical treatment for the next process.

4.       After that, “rare earth compound” will be process by using different composition of chemical reagent according their type.  Whatever light or heavy for producing “rare earth oxidase” next it will be export to manufacturing factory.

5.       Manufacturing company of advance technology product “rare earth oxidase” will undergo a process called “solvent extraction” to produce “rare earth metal” which is can be used directly or combine with other material to yield high technology product.

6.       “rare earth ore” which mined at Mount Weld contains few main minerals which is monazite. Monazite is a radioactive material. In monazite it contains thorium, cerium and lanthanum.

Monazite rich with thorium and thorium is highly radioactive and can be used as uranium to produce nuclear power.

Rare earth concentrate which is imported from Australia for processed at Gebeng, Kuantan contains 0.0029% Uranium and 0.16% Thorium for every metric tonnes.

Imported “rare earth concentrate” will be processed to yield “rare earth oxide” at Gebeng, Kuantan. Lynas’s CEO commented “Thorium based on ratio 55:10,000 metric ton and 22 thousand tonnes/year “rare earth oxide” that will be produced from Lynas factory or LAMP at Gebeng,Kuantan.  Estimated 121 metric tonnes thorium waste will be produced per year.

Evironment Protection Agency (EPA) of United States reported information regarding Thorium and its effect to human and environment as following: 

1. Thorium -232 have 14 billion (14x109) years lifetime.

2. Thorium-230 and Thorium-228 can withstand for 75,4000 years.

3. Thorium pollution may be spread by water and air.

4. Those that live close to this kind of factory that producing Thorium maybe expose with Thorium side effect.

5. Human may be infected / exposed by thorium by inhaled air, foods and water.

6. Inhaled thorium by air will remains for long at respiratory tract. Thorium will be diffusing into blood and remain in bone for long time.

7. Throat cancer, bone cancer and pancreas cancer may be occur due to inhaled Thorium waste.

Non Halal ingredient product

Monosodium glutamate (MSG)


Traditionally, added ingredient , MSG is a white powder like made from seaweed. This product did not act as added ingredient solely, but also change food’s taste itself.

Nowadays, MSG not been extracted from seaweed but the process has change to more cutting edge technology. In Malaysia, MSG made via fermentation of tapioca.

In 2001, Indonesian’s muslim was shocked due to bacon enzyme has been used in production of MSG. The most controversial material is Bactosoytone, a nutrient that play a role as a medium for bacterial growth via fermentation. Bactosoytone produced when soy protein was degrade by enzyme which is extracted from vavi pancreas.

Thus, the usage of Bactosoytone in production of MSG was illegal and HARAM because the source comes from non-halal ingredient.

What happen to SAR in Johor ?

I was called to write something regarding vernacular school. Vernacular school or in malay called “sekolah agama” was a favourite institution vote by religious parents to give her offspring good religious knowledge and practice it. Vernacular school is very important because it can balance the flip-flop of secular school that failed to implement very good Islamic value.

10 years ago, SAR in Johor can survive well and get fund from state government. On top of that, Johor earn reputation as best state that provide good and though Islamic education through establishment of many Islamic school like mushroom grow after rain. Probably surpassing Kelantan as an Islamic state governs by PAS.

Do you know what happened now? On 2009, Malaysia undergoes economic depression and government tries to solve this problem by cut all government expenses. As a result, our school (SAR) also affected by this called “cut budget”. Unlucky, I also affected because the government agencies that I worked during 10 week industrial training didn’t pay any cent to me, but we must pay for RM 350.00 to UTM and RM 250.00 for gas and other living expenses was fully supported by parents. I ask the officer, “How much pay I got when I work for you?”, He answer “Oh, we don’t have money to pay you since we in economic depression nowadays”.

I think government should highlight this issue as a major problem. Since public election around the corner rather than you called back all 13,000 teacher (GSTT) come back to school please consider this problem. They should think to reengineered Islamic education system rather than built up Sex school which boosts our country at 8th place allowed free sex in the world.
